Video Tutorial: Submitting ID Theft Complaint
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has put together a tutorial video on how to file an Identity Theft complaint with them. The FTC has a very comprehensive website dealing with ID theft, so this is just the latest tool they’ve developed to help consumers.
If you’ve been “ripped off” or have “spotted a scam”, this video is for you. The video outlines the kinds of fraud you may be a victim of and how the FTC can help. Your complaints help the FTC stop these scams from affecting others. The FTC uses complaint statistics to focus its enforcement actions and the rules & regulations developed for commerce.
Of course, if you’ve been the victim of a scam, you should also contact your law enforcement agency and a credit agency to double check your credit reports.
